Cedar Ridge has long been a provider of quality healthcare and rehabilitation for the Skowhegan area, and that continued strongly in 2009. With their facility, locate doff the Dr Mann Road, Cedar Ridge prides itself on giving quality care to each of their patients and their families. Never one to shy away from community service, their has been a member of Cedar Ridge on the Skowhegan Chamber Board of Directors for years and that continues with our latest appointment of Activity Director Jamie Doiron. Cedar Ridge has also been a sponsor of many different Chamber events over that past year including the FAB Fair and Haunted Hayrides. Their willingness to support the community and the effort they put in to helping their patients is second to none and a good reason why they are considered one of the leading facilities in Central Maine. Central Maine Family Fun Center
Who says you can’t be everything to everyone? Central Maine Family Fun Center says why not as they have combined several different businesses under one roof to offer a little something for people of all tastes. Since taking over in February of 2007, Terry and Brenda Washburn have worked on being able to provide all that they can to Skowhegan residents and local tourists too. With their bowling facility they have several league nights, family bowling nights and school trips that descend on mass. In their arcade area they have all sorts of games, indoor mini-golf pool tables and even a dining area. Neighboring their pro shop is Stitches n Tees, opened in spring of 2008 which does stitching, embroidering, t-shirt making and now trophies. Off the arcade is Paradise Patio a popular location for those that want to get out in the summertime and have some food and drink , and coming soon will be there outdoor wedding center complete with gazebo and 20 x 40 tent. Add to that T & B’s Outback Tavern and T & B’s Celebration Center and its easy to see how they cater to so many tastes. Hight Family of Dealerships
Founded in 1911, the Hight name has become synonymous with the Skowhegan area. This family-owned and operated business has grown to include 4 dealerships, with 3 in the Skowhegan area and one in Farmington. Employing over 120 people throughout the four locations, Hight’s has prided itself on quality service and products for nearly 100 years. This success has helped establish several other entities in the region including the development of the Skowhegan State Fair that has blossomed into becoming the social event of the summer, and one of the biggest local attractions for tourists in our area. In 2009, along with sponsorships and charitable donations to several groups and organizations, the Hight Family of Dealerships were instrumental in the sponsorships and help with Chamber events such as the Haunted Hayrides, the Harvest Days Golf Tournament and the Bike Night. Redington-Fairview General Hospital
As an employer in the area, they are one of the biggest- as community-minded organization they are one of the most supportive and as a regional healthcare provider they are one of the best. 2009 was a banner year for our well-known hospital with their continued support of many local organizations functions, such as the Harvest Days Golf Tournament, but also on their campus. The finalization of the new Medical Office building addition is nothing short of monumental for this area. The new facility will draw patients from across the state to experience high-quality healthcare in a relaxing state of the art building. The impressive expansion is the culmination of over two years of work and planning and the space can only be described as top-notch. As beneficial as the new piece is to the hospital however, it is even more beneficial to the patients it will serve. The impact on the community going forward will be tremendous and we all should be very proud to have such a world-class facility in our region. Congratulations on your nomination.
Skowhegan Savings has become a cornerstone of the community providing numerous banking and financial services to many customers and businesses throughout there multiple locations in Somerset County. Skowhegan Savings was founded nearly a century and a half ago and has been a leader in the community from the first days. Being strong supporters of the Chamber no less than a dozen employees have helped at various Chamber events in the past year as well as helping out nearly every other organization in town. They were built on the values of service, integrity and commitment to the community and that still rings true today. Their support for the FAB Fair, Haunted Hayrides and many other Chamber events and activities represents that community-first mentality and we are so thankful to have their continuous support year after year.
